Day 1: First Day On Roca Labs

7:03AM Counted this as a morning snack
Mixed 1 scoop of the powder with 350 ml L&A Papaya Delight (No Sugar, Sweeteners or Colors Added, No Preservatives, Very Low Sodium) and it tasted great! No bitter after taste and except for the fact that the formula started to thicken too much for me to drink straight up, it went down easily. I just spooned the last couple of drops.

8:57 Nearly two hours after I had the first dose and I am not hungry. My son was making turkey bacon and eggs and I walked in the kitchen because it smelled so good but when I looked at the food, I was aware that I wasn't hungry and started to open cabinet doors, by habit, close them, then open the refrigerator, and close it...but I wasn't hungry.

I question whether I should eat something anyway but decided to wait until 10AM, 3 hours after i took the Roca Labs formula. A few times, I thought i might be feeling hunger but when I drank water, the sensation dissipated...so, I am saying on my left side, relaxing, and watching television until 10AM...

IF I feel I can't wait 1 more hour, I will try the anti craving formula.

11:00 ad to adjust today's totals because I had accidentally entered the juice twice! This means I still have a 992 calorie balance.

No strong cravings but I am aware it is time to eat something.
I drank 7 80z glasses of filtered water so far.

11:15 Breakfast/Brunch Approx. 189 calories

What I prepared...

1 Eggland's egg w/ 1 slice Alpine Lace Munster Cheese, 4 slices Red Bell Pepper, Crushed Garlic, and Red Pepper Flakes topped with 1 tablespoon Tostitos Chunky Salsa (medium) cooked in 1 tablespoon Goya Olive oil and 1/2 slice Arnold's Health Nut.

What I ate!...

LESS THAN 1/2 of a 405 calorie breakfast! I feel satiated and after drinking 1 more 8oz glass of water, I am positive that I can wait until 3 or maybe even 4PM before having a "snack" (breakfast leftovers?).

A Note About Plate Size

Since Plate Size Might Influence Weight Gain, I decided this morning that the easiest way to control my serving sizes would be to measure the sizes of my plates then select a size that would give the "look" (visual clues) of a fuller plate...then eat 1/2 of that!

This is what breakfast looked like fresh out of the oven... Cooked in a Wolfgang Puck, Cafe Collection, 8" Omelette Pan. (I used a smaller pan size too!)

Using a smaller cooking pan also makes it look like there is alot more going on inside the cooking pan!

What I WAS eating out of...

I measured ALL of the dishes in my cabinet and was SHOCKED to find that the dinner plate that I have been eating out of is a WHOPPING 11" in width! (See below).

I think this is a very important thing to note because Roca Labs recommends cutting one's serving sizes in 1/2...and, SOME people may not do this while preparing their meals but after the food hits the plate. I think this could account for some people's slower progress as their eyes may see 1/2 of what's on their plate, but, their stomach's are still being stretched out too far!

6:01 Leftovers (from breakfast) w/ 1/2 cup baby spinach

6:21PM 32oz filtered water, 2 scoops Anti Craving powder, 4 drops Stevia

My challenge is usually in the evenings so I made 32oz of Anti Crave drink to sip on. This will also bring me up to 8 X 20 8oz glasses of filtered water today (160 oz).

MY Water Intake

A person who is 253 pounds
and is exercising for 0 minutes ,
is not pregnant,
is not breastfeeding,
does not live at a high altitude,
does not live in a dry climate,
drinks 0 alcoholic drink(s),
when the weather is not very hot or very cold,
and is not sick with fever or diarrhea should have:

126.5 ounces of water today, or 3.8 liters.

If you eat a healthy diet, about 20 percent of your water may come from the foods you eat. If you eat a healthy diet you can drink 101.2 ounces of water today, or 3 liters.

Water is an obvious source for your daily fluid needs. Other good beverages include milk, herbal teas, low-sodium broth, 100% fruit and vegetable juices. Soft drinks will also count toward your daily total of fluid, just remember that sugar sweetened soft drinks and fruit juices add extra calories to you daily diet that you don't need, while drinking water may help you lose weight.

8:04PM Supper
Although I drank 8oz of anti crave, I still felt hungry so I heated up what I prepared for dinner...

signature Spiced Rubbed 4 oz Delmonico Steak (rib eye) prepared in Low Sodium Beef Broth, crushed garlic, red, yellow and green bell pepper and a Baby Spinach, mushroom, Roma Tomato yellow and red bell pepper Spinach Salad drizzled with Ken's Steakhouse Lite Caesar Dressing.

This is what I ate (the leftovers) after sipping the Anti Crave drink while eating...

I ate 1/2 the steak (approximately 2-3 oz) and 1/2 the salad. I am full.

8:51PM Finishing off the Anti Crave drink.

Too sweet. I will use less Stevia next time. All in all, it's been a successful day for me. I ate considerably less than I normally would and blogging really helped me to stay focused and on top of what I eat...Photographing the food also helped. Seeing the leftovers really gave me a sense of accomplishment and helps me to understand the importance of eating less. There really is no good reason to eat until one is over stuffed or just because there is still food left on the plate.

There is nothing wrong with leftovers...I am learning that now. I use to throw leftovers away, now, I know it is okay to keep and to reheat them. In fact, it is much more wasteful to throw away uneaten food than to refrigerate and eat them later.

11:22PM Trouble sleeping. Had a cup of Camomile Tea but that didn't help. Ate 2 slices of Health Nut bread with 2 teaspoons of Peanut Butter. I have been hungry since 9ish...drank all of the Anti Craving drink but it didn't seem to help.
