No Such Thing As "All Natural Chicken" Anymore?

I started with a new trainer last week at 24 Hour Fitness. I am having difficulty keeping to my workout schedule but for the most part, I have been sticking to the eating plan. It is simple really...

Breakfast
2 egg whites
1 cup oatmeal/cream of wheat/rolled oats (avoid packaged brands)
fresh fruit (no bananas)

snack
meal replacement shake

lunch
4-6 ounces chicken/fish/turkey
1/2 cup green veggies
1/4 cup cooked barley/brown rice

snack
meal replacement shake

dinner
4-6 ounces chicken/fish/turkey
1/2 cup green veggies
1/4 cup cooked barley/brown rice

My son and I have been going to the Fresh Market to buy the meat. They measure/weight it for me and it's already cooked and seasoned. I just avoid the ones that have sauces on them such as the BBQ and Teriyaki.

I learned something new though that may affect where I buy my meat though---It's preserved in a saline solution and the broiled/rotisserie chicken is injected with saline (salt water)! This includes the so-called "All Natural" fresh chicken.

This information was shared with me at the counter while buying the chicken at the Fresh market by one of their own workers. Here are some articles that substantiate this...

Apparently, Chicken may be injected with any number of the following:
-Sugar
-Salt
-MSG
-Trans-Fat.

Yes, I said it TRANS FAT!

Aside from the injected salt and sugar solution, those cheaper chickens have a HORRIBLE fatty acid profile. Instead of the high omega 3 fatty acid meat you would get from a pastured chicken, rotisserie chickens are high in omega 6 fatty acids as a result of being fed GMO corn and soy instead of grass and bugs that chickens naturally eat.
